Experiencing the joys of new motherhood
After the birth of her baby, Paris Hilton didn’t hold back on how happy his arrival made her. In an interview with Extra, the celeb revealed that motherhood is “everything and more. I always wanted to be a mom, I am so happy that I have the perfect partner to do that with.”
She’s not alone in her joy, either. Referring to her husband (Carter Reum), the star continued: “Carter and I are just over the moon, obsessed with our little baby.” Unfortunately, not everyone shared in the couple’s joy, and after Hilton released a new set of photos of her child, internet trolls began working overtime mocking his appearance.
Trolls mock the appearance of Hilton’s child
Like many new moms, Paris Hilton spends a fair amount of time posting photos of her baby online. However, after she posted the latest photo of Phoenix to Instagram on October 19, all hell broke loose across the internet regarding the child’s appearance.
In short, the trolls became fixated on the idea that Hilton’s baby had a larger-than-normal head. They resorted to insults immediately, with some social media users comparing her child’s appearance to the star of the film Boss Baby. Speaking of famous babies, others compared Phoenix’s appearance to Stewie from Family Guy. Even some of those who weren’t actively trolling found ways to be offensive, including numerous people who speculated that Hilton’s son might have a large head because he is suffering from encephalitis.
Paris Hilton remains unfazed
Considering that many of these trolls’ comments were posted directly on Paris Hilton’s Instagram post, many people expected her to take the post down or at least turn off commenting. However, she didn’t do that for the simple reason that she remained unfazed (at least at first) by the entire controversy.
When a TikTok user expressed sympathy towards Hilton’s fight with the trolls, the celeb responded in a comment to further articulate her views. As reported by People, she wrote that “There are some sick people in this world. My angel is perfectly healthy.” She also spoke directly to the speculation about her son having an oversized head, writing that “of course, he has been to a doctor, he just has a large brain.”
No stranger to controversy
Eventually, Paris Hilton hit back at the trolls making cruel jokes about her child’s appearance (more on this in a moment). Before that happened, though, many were shocked at how calm she remained in the face of all this random hatred. Of course, one simple reason for her resilience is the fact that Hilton herself is no stranger to controversy.
As a wealthy heiress turned worldwide celebrity, Hilton has had to contend with attacks on her own appearance and personality for nearly two decades. On top of that, her rise to fame was synonymous with her sex tape getting leaked to the internet in 2004. Many think she owes her successful career to that sex tape, and Hilton has ample experience in fighting off haters who want to shame her for that tape.
Striking back at the haters
Paris Hilton might have remained calm at first when the trolls came for her baby. However, everyone’s patience has its limits, and it didn’t take long before she decided to strike back in her own special way. As reported by People, she ended up putting the trolls on blast in her Instagram Story.
“This hurts my heart more deeply than words can describe. I’ve worked hard to cultivate an environment that is all about love, respect, and acceptance, and I expect the same in return,” she wrote. Additionally, the star discussed how she “dreamt of being a mother” for many years, and she ended strongly with “It’s hard to fathom that there are people in the world who would target such innocence. I hope that people can treat one another with more kindness and empathy.”
