The legal drama Suits has been experiencing something of a renaissance. The show originally aired between 2011 and 2019 on the USA Network, and it rightfully gained a legion of loyal fans. That fan army grew more recently when the show started streaming on Netflix, where it boasted such high streaming numbers that there are talks about bringing the cast back together for a franchise reboot.
With so many fans new and old checking out Suits, more people than ever have been asking the big question: what has the cast been up to the past few years? You won’t need to fake being a lawyer to get the answers…keep reading to discover where the cast of Suits is now!
Meghan Markle
Meghan Markle played Rachel Zane in Suits, and her steamy onscreen chemistry with Patrick J. Adams was the main reason many fans tuned in each week. Ironically enough, it would be her steamy offscreen chemistry with someone else that would take her away from the show and out of Hollywood altogether.
She left after the seventh season for the simple fact that she met and fell in love with Prince Harry. Now that they are married, she is part of the Royal Family and living happily with her charming prince in Los Angeles, California. She’s avoided acting since getting her royal title, but we have our fingers crossed she’ll return for the inevitable Suits reboot.
Patrick J. Adams
On Suits, Patrick J. Adams played Michael Ross, a legal expert who manages to get hired as an associate lawyer without having the appropriate degree. Much of the show’s drama surrounded this character’s ability to find brilliant legal strategies and loopholes, though many fans preferred to watch his brilliant makeout sessions with Meghan Markle’s character.
Since Suits ended, Adams has managed to stay busy as an actor. In addition to appearing in the television show A League of Their Own, he also starred in The Right Stuff. When he’s not dazzling on the big and small screens, Adams is busy raising two children with his wife (and fellow actor) Troian Bellisario.
Gabriel Macht
If Patrick J. Adams’ exceptional but unconventional lawyer was the heart and soul of the show, then Gabriel Macht’s character Harvey Specter was definitely the brains. In Suits, he played a senior partner who helped to anchor most of the biggest storylines and helped bring characters together. After the departure of Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle from the show, it’s fair to say that Macht was the undisputed main character.
After Suits ended, we imagine that Macht had his choice of job offers, but he seemingly passed on them: the only thing he has appeared in since the end of Suits was the spinoff series Pearson which only lasted for one season. All that free time has likely helped Macht enjoy raising his two children with his wife, Jacinda Barrett. We think the fam will understand if he comes back for a Suits reunion, though!
Gina Torres
Compared to some of her costars, Gina Torres was one of the bigger names to star in Suits. To genre fans, she was practically a household name after her appearances in shows like Firefly and Angel and movies like The Matrix: Reloaded. After Suits ended, though, she ended up taking her impressive career in a different direction.
Immediately afterward, Torres did more than star in the Pearson spinoff series: her high-powered legal partner Jessica Pearson was the star character, and Torres helped produce her own show. After that show fizzled out, the biggest thing Torres has done is (surprisingly enough) an eczema documentary that she later brought to the SXSW film festival in 2023. On the homefront, Torres was once married to Hollywood legend Laurence Fishburne; together, they have a lovely daughter named Delilah.
Sarah Rafferty
In Suits, Sarah Rafferty played Donna Paulsen, a legal secretary who helped all of the dynamic personalities on the show work as a team. You may have noticed that she had particularly solid chemistry with Gabriel Macht, and there’s a reason for that: these two were best friends in real life long before getting cast on the same show.
After Suits wrapped up, Rafferty pursued some other primetime projects: for example, she landed recurring roles on Chicago Med and Grey’s Anatomy. As for her personal life, Rafferty attended Meghan Markle’s wedding and, when she’s not rubbing shoulders with royalty, she’s enjoying marriage to longtime husband Santtu Seppälä.
Rick Hoffman
Rick Hoffman played Louis Litt on Suits, and his character was a powerful partner at the Pearson Hardman law firm. Between the character’s powerful position and the actor’s powerful skills as a performer, he soon became someone we loved to hate from episode to episode. Offscreen, though, there is plenty for us to love about Hoffman’s career and his life.
Beyond Suits, he appeared briefly in the Pearson spinoff and later played Dr. Swerdlow on Billions. After that, he returned to his Eli Roth slasher roots (he was quite creepy in Hostel) to star in the director’s holiday-themed slasher Thanksgiving. So far, Hoffman remains romantically unattached, but we can tell he has a great heart from the fact he attended Meghan Markle’s wedding to Prince Harry in 2018!
Amanda Schull
Amanda Shchull played the character of Katrina Amanda Bennett, and this junior partner just became more important as time went on. Initially, she was only a recurring actor in Suits, but fans looked forward to her every appearance. Those fans were quite happy when she became a series regular in 2018 after the untimely departure of both Meghan Markle and Patrick J. Adams.
Life after Suits has been relatively eclectic for this talented actor. She has made appearances on NCIS and also had a recurring role on 911: Lone Star, a show that also featured her Suits costar Gina Torres. On top of that, she made time to start in a whopping five Lifetime movies, but she’s not waiting for her own romantic “meet-cute:” she married George Wilson years ago, and they are now raising a child together.
Katherine Heigl
Katherine Heigl entered Suits after Meghan Markle and Patrick J. Adams left, and she brought some serious star power to the show. Fans just couldn’t look at her corporate attorney character without thinking about Heigl’s legendary performances in everything from Knocked Up to Grey’s Anatomy. Accordingly, this popular actor had no trouble finding additional work after Suits finally took a bow.
Her most significant post-Suits appearance was in the Netflix drama Firefly Lane, and she will soon star as the title character in a film adaptation of the book The Woman Who Ran for President: The Many Lives of Victoria Woodhull. When she’s not staying busy in front of the camera, you can find Heigl making the most of life with her husband (Josh Kelley) and their three children.
