The Absolutely Weirdest Pictures of Politicians and Celebs

Historically, celebrities and politicians haven’t always mixed very well. There’s an obvious reason for this: celebrities achieve success by being popular with as many people as possible. However, politicians anger many people thanks the laws and policies they help to create. When a celeb hangs out with a politician, some fans may think this is an endorsement of that person’s politics and start boycotting them. As for the politicians and their constituents, they often resent the inclusive messages of celebrities, which is why so many conservatives hate almost everything to do with what they see as an overly “woke” Hollywood.

With that being said, celebrities and politicians have been hanging out from the very beginning. Many of them would prefer to keep these hangouts a secret, but that’s pretty much impossible in the age of cameras and smartphones. Because of that, we have countless photos of celebs and politicians, and some of them are just downright strange. What are the absolute weirdest photos of two people that you’d never expect to even be in the same room together? Keep reading to find out!

Ellen and George W. Bush

For many of us, it was surreal when Ellen DeGeneres was spotted at a Dallas Cowboys game with former United States president George W. Bush. They came from very different worlds, of course: Bush was effectively the face of the establishment, having waged a War on Terror abroad during his time in the White House. Domestically, he supported a ban on same-sex marriage, something that would not become legal until Barack Obama’s presidency. Meanwhile, Ellen was a former sitcom star turned reality TV host, and she was arguably the most famous person in the world. In other words, the last person you’d expect to be friendly with Bush.

Ironically enough, their reputations have largely flip-flopped since this picture was taken. Now that he’s been out of the White House for nearly two decades, the public perception of Bush has softened; many see him as America’s grandpa, someone mostly known for acting silly and doing weird paintings. Meanwhile, Ellen has been canceled amid allegations that she treats her staff very poorly behind the scenes and has been weird with several of her celebrity guests.

Elvis and Nixon

Let’s be honest: this picture of Elvis and Nixon looks like something from another universe. After all, the singer is the King of Rock and Roll, one who inspired countless teens to rebel against the machine. Nixon, meanwhile, was the machine: a powerful American president who ultimately resigned in shame amid the Watergate scandal. What would bring these two very different figures together? Believe it or not, the war on drugs!

You see, Elvis wanted to be a good influence on children whenever he could. Because of this, he let the Nixon administration use his name and face in their various anti-drug campaigns. In December 1970, Nixon decided to reward the singer by giving him a specialized badge, which is where this photo comes from. It was a real honor, but Elvis was probably disappointed. After all, he believed that the badge made him an actual federal agent.

Kanye and Donald Trump

Kanye West has had a very complex relationship with politics for a very long time. In 2005, while hosting a televised fundraiser for victims of Hurricane Katrina, he infamously blurted out, “George Bush doesn’t care about Black people!” It was a genuinely shocking moment that proved just how unpredictable the singer could be. It also proved that he was opposed to conservative politicians…at least, that was what everyone thought at the time. It turns out that he was just waiting for the right sales pitch!

One decade after his televised outburst, however, Kanye was photographed with presidential contender Donald Trump. When asked about their relationship, the singer replied they were “just friends.” They kept up their friendly relationship, and West even made viral jokes about serving as Trump’s 2024 running mate. The cozy relationship with Trump, along with other controversies, lost Kanye many of the fans he once had.

Tina Fey and Sarah Palin

We saved the weirdest celeb/politician photo for last. While Tina Fey has entertained audiences through movies like Mean Girls and TV shows like 30 Rock, many believe her finest performance was as Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live. It seemed the role that Fey was born to play, and she turned all of Palin’s quirks into hilarious punchlines. Eventually, the inevitable happened, and the actual Palin appeared in a skit alongside her impersonator!

Interestingly, Tina Fey looked away from Sarah Palin during their short, shared time on the stage. Why was that? Years later, Fey appeared on David Tennant’s podcast and admitted she didn’t want to do the skit in the first place and she “didn’t want to be in a two-shot” with the former Alaskan governor. In other words, those SNL performances weren’t just an act; Fey really, really disliked Palin!
